ECMC friends The Stonewall Chorale will celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month with their annual Pride Concert QUEERLY BELOVED on Saturday, June 11th, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Apostles in Manhattan. A metropolitan Christmas is a special one that can't be compared. The vast and sleepless city of eight million changes its air and becomes a little more caring, a little more loving and a little more personal than at other times. From the echoing halls and corridors of Manhattan, in the rush of day or lit up at night, any moment is a New York Moment at Christmas. This momentariness is captured eloquently and equally in the music of Bach, Mathias, Sondheim, Corigliano, Billings and more.

Chameleonic, now in its fourth season, was founded in 2012 by Vince Peterson and several members of the celebrated NYC-based vocal ensemble, Choral Chameleon.  Our purpose is to challenge the traditional boundaries of choral music concert programming, and to cultivate the most style-savvy and technically sound singers, and to use the music of human voices as a vehicle for social justice and healing in the world.  

Our 30-40 auditioned, volunteer members represent all five boroughs of New York City and a joyful tapestry of cultures and musical backgrounds from theatre, to opera, to contemporary, popular, and obscure sensibilities.  The choir is often co-led through the rehearsal and performance process by Vince Peterson in tandem with other professional musicians from the Choral Chameleon roster who sing, conduct, play, write, arrange, and administer - all on a volunteer basis.  

Chameleonic singers are some of the most open-minded in the City. We're very open to trying new things. Our members are used to performing in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, have been hired for the UpFronts for The Weather Channel and as a pop-up choir for Oreos. We've featured in off-Broadway productions of 'The Events' at New York Theater Workshop and 'The Christians' at Playwrights Horizons.  Dare us try anything and we'll probably say yes. Within our own family, we have also presented concerts jointly with Choral Chameleon and collaborated with the The Empire City Men's Chorus and the choir of St Paul's Carroll Street in the March 2015 Choral Chameleon production of the US Premiere of Roxanna Panufnik's innovative and theatrical piece, "Dance of Life -Tallinn Mass" at the DiMenna Center.

In Summer 2015, Chameleonic hosted it's very first Summer Sing in Brooklyn - we invited New York's choral community to let off some steam away from all the Requiems and Magnificats with a lively sight-sing of Misa Criolla by Ariel Ramirez. Click on our Facebook link and you'll find some video of it.

The mission of the New York City Master Chorale is to make a significant statement for choral excellence. Empire City Men's Chorus friends Sirens of Gotham (Sarah Clay, Artistic Director) will present their holiday Winter Gala Thursday, December 3rd, at the Sixth Floor Loft from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The Siren's Winter Gala will be a cabaret variety show featuring small group and quartet performances by the Sirens, as well as special guests from their brother chorus Voices of Gotham, and other unique variety acts; along with bespoke cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Performing right in the heart of Manhattan, Sirens of Gotham is a fresh take on women's a cappella music. They perform various genres ranging from classic standards and music theatre to contemporary pop. New to the choral scene, Sirens have accomplished much since their establishment in November of 2011. Founded by Jenny Clarke, Executive Director, in 2003, Melodia Women's Choir is a fresh voice on the New York choral scene. An ensemble of 32 singers, Melodia explores and performs rarely heard music for women’s voices in many different styles, and nurtures emerging women composers through commissions, residencies and performances. About Stonewall Chorale

Based in New York City, the Stonewall Chorale is the nation's first gay and lesbian chorus. Our mission is to enrich people's lives through learning and performing beautiful choral music, and to nurture and celebrate the community we create together. 

The Chorale originated in December 1977 as the Gotham Male Chorus, and specialized in Gregorian Chant and Renaissance music. In 1979, women joined the chorus for the first time, and the name was changed to Stonewall Chorale, the nation’s first Lesbian and Gay chorus.

Today, Cynthia Powell leads us as our Artistic Director and we typically perform three concerts each year and make appearances at special events throughout the tri-state area.

The Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps will perform as part of Washington Market Park's Annual Halloween Party and Costume Parade on Sunday, October 25th, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The parade is the park’s longest running event, and it is one of the highlights of the year for Tribeca children. Inside the park, Friends of Washington Market Park volunteers run a dozen free events, from penny-in-a-haystack to a bone dig in the sandbox, and a hay circle on the lawn.

PLEASE NOTE: Strollers are not be permitted in the park during the event. For your convenience, a free stroller-check will be available at Duane and Greenwich streets, run by our Friends board volunteers.

PARADE: The parade line-up begins at 12:45pm near CitiGroup Plaza (Greenwich Street at N. Moore Street). The parade travels south along Greenwich Street to the park.
