Hey Nonny No! by Crystal LaPoint

Empire City Men's Chorus will sing Hey Nonny No!,  the fourth and final song from Four English Songs by Crystal LaPoint, originally written for four-part a cappella chorus of treble voices.  Vince Peterson, ECMC's director, has revoiced the song for men's chorus.  The song is a setting of the anonymous 16th Century poem, Hey Nonny No!

Hey nonny no!
Men are fools that wish to die!
Is't not fine to dance and sing
When the bells of death do ring?
Is't not fine to swim in wine,
And turn upon the toe,
And sing hey nonny no!
When the winds blow and the seas flow?
Hey nonny no!

Here's a video of ECMC singing Hey Nonny No! from our chorus retreat in February of this year.
