Empire City Men's Chorus friends Cantori New York will present The Jazzman, His Wife, and the Persian Poet tonight at 8:00 pm. The titular featured composition by Dutch composer Jacques Bank explores the complicated relationship between American jazz titan Charlie "Bird" Parker and his wife, Chan, interwoven with texts from the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, for chamber choir, instruments and narrator. Maryann Plunkett returns for a third collaboration with Cantori New York. The Tony Award-winning performer brings Chan Parker's voice and experiences to life as the Narrator of Bank's masterful new work.
